Autumn in Japan

Japanese autumn is called “the harvest season”. People can savor the freshly harvested rice, and enjoy many kinds of fruits, mushrooms and fish that are rich in healthy oils.

Additionally, in Japan the mid-autumn full moon is regarded as particularly beautiful, and we have developed a custom of gazing at it. Often, people seek out a good spot with a full view of the moon, arrange bundles or bouquets of susuki (Japanese pampas grass), and set out a plate of tsukimi-dango (“moon-viewing rice dumpling”)
